Introduction

This month we are focusing on commercial additives. In the case of the whey proteins the additives do not actually hurt you, but some companies have gotten a bit carried away with adding ingredients that you don't need to get out of your protein powder, much less pay for. However, when it comes to trans fats the additives can actually be very harmful (although they can make the food cheaper). New York is on the ball with their recent ban, which is discussed in that article. We have only briefly touched on two sides of added ingredients (unnecassary, expensive ones and harmful, cheap ones), so the discussion to go along with this content asks your oppinion on additives. You may want to add something about other common ingredients such as MSG, Splenda, or others.

How do you deal with all the additives in commercial foods such as partially hydrogenated oils (trans fat) and high fructose corn syrup?

The New York Trans Fat Ban and Your Diet
by Ken Schweickert
New York's ban on trans fats is one of the best things to happen to health and fitness this year. Read this article to get some details on what this ban does and, more importantly, how it should actually affect your diet.

Companies have a tendency to add things that you don't necassarily need into your protein. Here is a video review of our favorite basic and low-cost whey protein powders.

Current Projects

Relavant Learning Base Entries

  • Trans Fat - Needs additional content.
  • Sugars - Needs additional content and more descriptions.

What we're up to: We are currently working towards a more efficient profile manager. Rather than specifying dates for each workout, you will have another calendar that will be just for your workouts. You will also be able to have multiple diets for different days (sort of like your workouts are currently set up). The fit month will be modified in two ways: It is going to be a little more user-friendly because it will not specify each week and it will be less restrictive in the number of weeks (so it won't really be so much a month now). We are also working to finish up several projects that were not finished over the summer.

If you do not currently have a fitness profile, get in on the action so you can take advantage of our up and coming features.
