School - The Health Hazard |May 24, 2008

Introduction

We waited until school was over to release this content selection. As you will read in Matt Altapeter's article, stress is a major health problem in the education system. We didn't want to contribute to that by just reminding you of all the bad things that are byproducts of education. Just think about it this way: now that it's summer, these are all the things that don't affect you... at least for a few months now. But when its time to go back, you'll be ready for 'em.

Advice

What to bring?
So now we've got you all scared about the food and you don't know what to eat. Here's a list of portable foods. Keep in mind, this assumes that you probably are spending most of the day without much activity.

  • Plenty of water. It is important at least to stay hydrated during the day.
  • A sack lunch with any of the following...
    • Peanut butter and honey sandwich
    • Tuna sandwich (preferably sans mayo unless you can keep it refrigerated)
    • Apple or other portable and low-medium glycemic index fruit
    • Granola bars (low sugar content would be probably good)

67%

Getting the kids up
11%
Keeping the kids on track
10%
Preparing breakfasts and lunches
